Swim:  0.5-miles
The swim will take place in the cool, clear waters of Lake Leatherwood.
The route will be in the shape of a large triangle.  Swimmers will start
and finish on the beach near the swimming area, swimming in a
counter-clockwise direction.
The water temperature in early June is
typically above the 78 degree wetsuit cut-off.
Transition 1
The transition from swim to bike will consist of a flat 200-yard run
on grass to the central transition area.
Mountain Bike: 13-miles
The mountain bike section will take place on the trails within the
boundaries of the park. The trails which are a mixture of single and
double track are semi-technical and include challenging rocky
terrain, steep climbs and several fun and fast descents
*see map and detailed route description below
Transition 2
The transition from bike to run will take place at the central
transition area where the swim to bike transition takes place.
Trail Run (triathlon course): 5-miles
The trail run portion of the race will take place on the trails within
the boundaries of the park.  The course will primarily follow the

Trail Run
Trail Run:  4.1-miles
The Trail Run is a seperate event from the triathlon and provides an
off-road option that is less committing than the full triathlon.  The 4.1-mile
course will trace most of the first lap of the mountain bike course, marked
on the bike course map below.  We expect all racers to finish before the
start of the triathlon.
*Trail Run participants must be a USAT member
